Controlled Drugs

For the safety and security of our patients, prescriptions for controlled drugs are not available on repeat prescription. If you need further issues these should be requested in writing at least 2 working days before. When collecting a controlled drug prescription you will be asked to sign on collection. We can not send controlled drugs prescription via EPS, fax or post. These must be collected in person by the patient, nominated person or pharmacy.

Ordering Your Prescription

You can order your prescription online using Patient Access. If you are not registered for Patient Access, you can fill in the online request form. You may also wish to register for the online services.

Other Ways to Order Your Prescriptions

  • In Person: Please put your repeat prescription slip in the box in reception.
  • By Post: Post the computerised repeat prescription slip indicating the medication you require to the surgery, enclosing a stamped self-addressed envelope. If posting please remember to give at least one weeks notice for a first class stamp and longer if using second class.
  • By Fax: Please fax your prescription request to 0208 679 4149
  • Chemist: Some of the local chemists also offer a collection service for the surgery. See collection points section below. You can also sign up to have your prescription sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. Speak to your chosen pharmacy about the EPS service.

We do not accept requests for repeat medication over the telephone.

Collection Points

Patients can either collect their prescription from the surgery or a chemist of their choice.

Prescriptions must be collected from the practice in person. If the patient named on the prescription is unable to attend the surgery they must complete a consent form indicating that the person collecting their prescription has permission to do so.

In order for prescriptions to be collected from a chemist, patients need to register at their chemist of choice for the ‘Prescription Collection Service’. Once the Chemist has agreed to collection on your behalf, Patients then need to instruct the Practice which must be in writing – forms are available from most chemists.

Repeat Prescription requests are not accepted over the telephone for the avoidance of errors.

Each drug has two names – the generic and the brand name. Where possible we use the generic name because this is usually much cheaper for the health service. Due to this, you may notice a change in colour, shape or size of your drug. Do not be concerned by this, you are still receiving the same drug of the same quality, it is only the appearance that has altered.

Please book your medications review appointment at least 10 days before your medication runs out.

Prescriptions Synchronisation

If you are collecting repeat medications several times a month you may benefit from synchronizing your prescriptions to bring them all in line so you can collect them all at the same time. Please complete the form and we will try and assist you where possible.

Free Prescriptions

Medicines are free to: Patients aged 60 and over, children under 16, people under 19 years old and in full time education, pregnant or nursing mothers, and people suffering from one of a number of specified individual conditions, people on income support or family credit.
